About Us

Lisa Freeman is the founder of Freeman Family Farm. Freeman Family Farm is located in a historic district of Manchester bridging the gap in a mixed community of older and younger generations, people of different ethnic backgrounds, and sexual orientation. Lisa's belief is that we are all the same when we are playing in the dirt.

Lisa is a social worker of over 35 years focused on working in underserved and marginalized communities. She began her gardening and farming journey nearly a decade ago by starting a school and community garden which after 5 years became an exemplary model for the city of Pittsburgh.

Our Story

The importance of eating healthy produce became a real experience upon her husband's diagnosis of terminal

cancer.  Lisa witnessed firsthand the extraordinary benefits of fresh veggies, sunshine and fresh air 's role in establishing good health.  Unfortunately her husband lost his battle with cancer, but growing fresh and providing good health for her neighbors is Lisa's utmost goal!

Lisa is also a passionate culinary artist and an advocate for organic, healthy foods.
